If you don't want to fabricate your own bracket for fixing the baseplate to the centre post you could use a flange like this one from Keelite. I needed a short length of aluminium sleeve to take up the difference between the centre post O/D and the flange I/D. This is a view from the underside of the baseplate - the flange is so solid you wont need another one above the baseplate.
